ABOUT SANDSTORM BEACH CLUB
Check out the virtual tour of our facility!
The Queensland State Government has provided $2M to the Major Sports Facilities Authority to build a new 8-court International Beach Volleyball facility at the Queensland Sports & Athletics Centre, previously known as QE2 or ANZ stadium, the former home of the Brisbane Broncos.
The development of this International facility will:
provide the Queensland Academy of Sport with quality co-located elite training facilities for its Beach Volleyball program
provide infrastructure to enable Queensland to bid for the national centralised Beach Volleyball program (Team Australia Beach Volleyball / Australian Institute of Sport Beach Volleybal program)
provide base infrastructure to host National and International, in particular the FIVB World Tour, events.
Sandstorm Beach Club has seen the development of up to 8 Olympic size courts, with kiosk/canteen and all essential modern amenities.
Sandstorm Beach Club will be the training facility for the Queensland Academy of Sport Beach Volleyball program. Queensland best junior and senior players will make Sandstorm Beach Club home and train alongside such International players as Triple Olympian and dual Olympic Medalist Natalie Cook and her partner Olympian Nicole Sanderson.
A primary objective of Sandstorm Beach Club is to foster the development of the Beach Volleyball, at all levels of the game. This is accomplished by junior and senior competitions open to the public conducted weekly at the venue. Further to this, is the inclusion of coaching programs for all ages.

Amendments to the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998 require all Major Sports Facilities Authority venues to be smoke free from 1 January 2005. The changes mean smoking is prohibited within a major sports facility (including small external buildings such as toilet blocks) or within four metres of all building entrances. Car parks and grounds areas are excluded under the legislation.
